Pathways Has Arrived!

20-3-18

The Day Has Arrived!

Tuesday 20th March 2018 will be remembered for many reasons including being the first day of Spring and the International Day of Happiness. For Toastmasters in Regions 1 and 11, it will be remembered chiefly as the day that Pathways – the new Toastmasters Educational Program –was rolled out and members embarked on a new beginning. “Everything new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” This quote by Seneca, shared by Toastmaster Julie Kertesz, sums up the change well.
There was eager anticipation across the two regions and members took to social media all day to share their first impressions of Pathways and wish each other a Happy Pathways Day.
I was delighted to log on to Pathways with ease early in the morning (UK time) and view the four clubs I am a member of and choose my home club. I chose Hertfordshire Speakers the club I joined eight years ago.
I am truly grateful to Emperor Mandarin Toastmasters Club which I joined in November 2017 to gain my first practical experience of Pathways. Following the online assessment, I chose the Leadership Development Path, and  completed my Icebreaker on 15 December 2017.
In my next blog I will share the reason for my choice of Path and give a more in depth view about my experience of the Leadership Development Projects.

Pathways Is Coming!

Pathways Is Coming!

In two days time, on Tuesday March 20th 2018, Pathways, the new Toastmasters Education Program will be rolled out in Region 11 (Europe, Middle East and Africa). As with any change, there are mixed emotions amongst members, varying from excitement to disenchantment!

I am in the excited camp. So much so that I took the decision three months ago to become an early adopter. I joined the exciting Emperor Mandarin online club with members from around the globe all keen to experience the new Pathways program.

I have been hugely inspired by members such as Julie Kertesz who delights not only in completing the new Pathways projects but enthusiastically and very generously shares her knowledge with members. No question is too simple or complex for her to answer. If there was an award for a person who embodies the Toastmaster spirit, who has shown leadership in the way she has embraced change, I think Julie deserves that award.

Thanks to the inspiration from Julie, Sudha, Zaldy and a host of other Toastmasters, I am positively excited about Tuesday 20th March when Pathways will be an exciting new educational program alongside the traditional program, which will still be available for another two years.

I plan to listen, learn and lead as I continue along the Leadership Development Path I am working on, and to help members in my club(s) whatever stage they are at.

Welcome to Pathways!
