Pathways - One Year On!

Tomorrow, 20th March 2019, is a special day.

It's the first anniversary of the rollout of Pathways in Region 11. Since our club- Hertfordshire Speakers - meets on a Monday, we will be having a celebration party on Monday 25th March. There will be balloons, ribbons, a cake and certificates to recognise members who have completed the Ice-breaker and other paths. I look forward to writing my blog after the celebration.

I will be wearing my Pathways T-shirt with great pride tomorrow and again next Monday, as I did on 20th March 2018.

Tonight - 19th March 2019 - I was honoured to be invited by East Herts Speakers club to give a presentation on Pathways. The title of my presentation was "Falling In Love" inspired by
a toastmaster in D26 who wrote in the Pathways Discussion Forum that she liked that program Pathways so much that she was 'falling in love'. I knew instantly that I wanted to use this as a title to convey the passion for pathways.

In my presentation tonight, I shared highlights of my experience working through the 'Leadership Development' path from Icebreaker to L5.

A FEW TIPS FOR SUCCESS IN PATHWAYS

1. For the Members
Invest some time in getting to know Pathways. Research e.g. Catalogue/ Questionnaire
Find a Pathways Mentor or Buddy in the club or beyond
Join an online FB Group e.g. Pathways Discussion Forum; read blogs  e.g. Julie Kertesz

2. For the Club
Appoint a Club Pathways Champion
Club Success Plan: Set Pathways targets e.g. % members to complete Icebreaker; % members enrolled, Pathways Mentor
Have regular bite-size Pathways training sessions (f-2-f or zoom)
Update new member orientation to include Pathways training (crucial)
Share resources e.g. D57 website, D69 Pathways Reference Guide, Herts Speakers Phil Carey’s  Cheat sheet  & videos
Celebrate Pathways success e.g. ribbons, pins, certificates
In keeping with the Pathways theme for the evening, the three wonderful speeches that followed mine included two Pathways Icebreakers from the path 'Presentation Mastery' and a L2 Speech from 'Visionary Communications'.
Thanks John, Nina, Liz & Steve and the rest of the members for the warm welcome to East Herts.
Congratulations again to club president, John Allsop, the Area Director-elect for Area 20.
